We recently visited the flower market in downtown Los Angeles and hit the jackpot with some gorgeous succulents and flowers. Naturally, we needed somewhere to house all these great finds, so we picked up some classic terra cotta pots. They were looking a little, well, plain, so we thought we’d spruce them up a bit with a quick-and-easy DIY. The materials are pretty reasonably priced, and, fortunately, you don’t need much more than a little paint and some creativity.

DIY: Dip-Dye Pillowcases
We’ve been eyeing some dip-dye projects for a while now, and we finally decided on a good beginner one to try out. The results were delightful! Not only was this a (fairly) easy and cheap DIY, but it was actually pretty fun (that is, if you have a little patience). With a little help from our friend Nicole Neu of MADE Collective and Arrowood, we were able to get some pretty fantastic and colorful additions for our living room seating.

Beauty: Berry Lip Stain
When we saw this tutorial in a Free People blog a couple years ago, we knew we had to try it out. It has all our favorite characteristics of an EAC-friendly DIY: easy, cheap, and involves food! Not only do the berries give your lips a subtle hint of color, but the olive oil is there to moisturize, leaving you with naturally colored and hydrated lips. Make Your Own Almond Milk
While we love the convenience of just running to the store and picking up a carton of milk, if there’s a way we can make it, we prefer to do it ourselves. That way, we know exactly what’s going into our food (and drinks!)–no ingredients that we don’t approve, all chosen by us. It was for this reason that we decided to try our hand at some homemade almond milk. With just four ingredients, this almond milk turned out to be some of the best we’ve ever had. Continue reading
