Monday is Memorial Day and, while we honor this day of remembrance, we know that across the U.S., it has become common to hold backyard barbecues. Usually, these types of events could be considered danger zones for those of us watching what we eat. Continue reading

Are Beet Greens the New Kale?
We’ve heard a lot of talk in the health food world about beet greens lately; some even claim that they could become the new kale. While we’re skeptical of that (we love our kale!), we’re always looking for new ways diversify when it comes to ingredients. We decided to try them out and see what all the fuss it about. Created by Primal Kitchen, the Paleo-friendly condiment is—get ready for this—gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, soy and canola free, non GMO, and uses cage-free eggs. Not to mention, it’s made with all real food: avocado oil, organic cage-free eggs, organic egg yolks, organic vinegar (from non-GMO beets), sea salt, and rosemary extract. Sounds like a dream come true for us health nuts, right? Continue reading

It was for this reason that we decided to try our hand at some homemade almond milk. With just four ingredients, this almond milk turned out to be some of the best we’ve ever had. Continue reading

While these aren’t the most filling (they are just pieces of kale after all), they fulfill our salty-chip craving without all the points–or junk food. Read on to learn how to make your own. Continue reading
How I Survived the Holidays (Barely): Ilana’s Thanksgiving
Everyone in my family has different eating habits. My mom and I eat only chicken and fish, while the rest of our family eat pretty much everything. My aunt and mom usually split the cooking duties for the bigger family gatherings. Continue reading
