If someone were to ask us what our most important tool for weight loss is, we’d have to say meal planning. Very few things are harder than turning down convenient fast food when you’re on the fence between hungry and angry and ready to eat anything in sight to tame the hangry beast. We’ve been there. SO. MANY. TIMES. And these are the times that throw us off track most often. Continue reading

Splurge Worthy: La Brea Bakery
We recently took a trip to our local La Brea Bakery for some fresh-baked sourdough bread for our beet greens post. We hadn’t been since the remodel, and let us tell you, it’s magical. Continue reading
Memorial Day Weekend: Simply Grilling + Party Tips
Monday is Memorial Day and, while we honor this day of remembrance, we know that across the U.S., it has become common to hold backyard barbecues. Usually, these types of events could be considered danger zones for those of us watching what we eat. Continue reading
Cinco de Mayo: Healthy Margaritas
Happy Cinco de Mayo, friends! While we’re aware that drinking while trying to lose weight is not the best recipe for success, it’s a holiday and we’re gonna have margaritas if we want to! The part about the Weight Watchers philosophy that makes it so realistic and sustainable is that you can have what you want (in moderation and within your allotted points, of course), as long as you’re aware of what you’re putting into your body and you budget accordingly. So, today, we have margs! Continue reading

TWIST Eatery
Because our WW meetings are on Saturday mornings (and because we love brunch), our favorite post-meeting activity together is a tasty-yet-healthy meal from one of our local favorites. We prefer not to eat before our weigh in (for obvious reasons), so we postpone for a little light brunching together after. This keeps us accountable for our food choices, and we’re so amped up on healthy decision-making after our meetings that we’re more likely to go for smarter options.
We decided to start highlighting some of our favorite go-to spots for our Angelenos (and visitors, too!). This week: TWIST Eatery on La Brea. Continue reading
Are Beet Greens the New Kale?
We’ve heard a lot of talk in the health food world about beet greens lately; some even claim that they could become the new kale. While we’re skeptical of that (we love our kale!), we’re always looking for new ways diversify when it comes to ingredients. We decided to try them out and see what all the fuss it about. Continue reading
Review & Recipe: Avocado Oil Mayo
After reading about the first avocado oil mayo, we immediately began brainstorming how we could use it for the site. Here at EAC, we love avocados, and we’re suckers for a good sauce. Created by Primal Kitchen, the Paleo-friendly condiment is—get ready for this—gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, soy and canola free, non GMO, and uses cage-free eggs. Not to mention, it’s made with all real food: avocado oil, organic cage-free eggs, organic egg yolks, organic vinegar (from non-GMO beets), sea salt, and rosemary extract. Sounds like a dream come true for us health nuts, right? Continue reading
How I Survived the Holidays (Barely): Ilana’s Thanksgiving
Everyone in my family has different eating habits. My mom and I eat only chicken and fish, while the rest of our family eat pretty much everything. My aunt and mom usually split the cooking duties for the bigger family gatherings. Continue reading
Guilt-Free Thanksgiving Feast: Cara’s Thanksgiving
The holidays can be torturous for people trying to lose weight (that’s us!). So this Thanksgiving, we decided to make Weight Watchers-friendly recipes, and the results were DELICIOUS! Continue reading
